[Foolings] Mysterious Tracks II
Word Count: 811 Birch shook himself from his shock of realizing where the tracks were headed to and started to jog along, following them. His jog soon picked up into a full speed run, fear for himself forgotten in place of fear for the residents of the city. Leaping over a broken tree trunk the light gray foo couldn’t help but pray to the Deities that he got there in time. Not that he could fight the monster on his own and hope to win, but he would certainly try if it meant saving a life. At the speed he was running it certainly didn’t take him long to reach the city and Birch found himself distressed that the trail of destruction had never ceased. The monster had made it to the city, and it didn’t look like the guard was aware of it yet. Hopefully one would find it soon, or someone else tell them because he was so close to finding the monster he could almost taste it. Birch continued his run through the streets, weaving his way through and around any obstacle in the way.

Word Count: 877 ‘It’s a beautiful day out, if slightly nippy’ Birch thought to himself as he padded down the road leading to the gates to the Circle from his home in Osten. ‘Very quiet, but at the same time my fur is prickling. Something is not quite right here. But what? That is the question.’ The fooling picked up his slow walk into something more like a trot, a niggle of fear creeping down his spine as he realized there was no birdsong or other sounds of wildlife within the forest around him. That is what was wrong right now, why it was so unsettlingly quiet. ‘Maybe the guards at the gate know what’s going on. I can ask soon, I see the gate up ahead.’ Birch slowed down to a walk again as he came up to the gate to the Circle. Looking around he noticed the guard was out in more force than usual. ‘Something is indeed going on here…’ Most of the guards appeared to be rather busy, but there was one who was just maintaining watch. “Excuse me, Ma’am, might I have a moment of

Crow let his wings carry him silently over the trees and shrubs of the forest near Setano. Iris was elsewhere, so the giant Malfestio was free to do his own thing until she came back. For now, that meant finding something to hunt for food that wasn’t owned by one of the villagers. Easier said than done, sometimes. Yes, he could have pestered Iris for food but sometimes- Something shiny glinted in the light of the setting sun. Shiny. Very shiny. Shiny spotted, abort food finding. Obtaining shiny is more important than food. The melanistic Malfestio banked suddenly, hyper focused on whatever shiny thing had caught his attention. Massive black wings helped guide a graceful descent as Crow slowed down and geared up for landing. Whatever it didn’t look like it was actually attached to another monster, which was helpful because then he wouldn’t have to pester them to part with a shiny feather or scale or two. Or five. Coming in for the landing was a bit rougher than expected, but that
All was quiet up in the mountainous highlands between the mangrove forests and perilous clutches of the land Yan controlled with his tech touched army. Well, for the moment anyway. It seemed that the Tech Touched’s commander was in one of his hibernation periods. Some curios were taking the time to rest and recover while the cybernetic army was less dangerous, but others were taking advantage of the lull to try and restock on some supplies. As much as attempting to do so was a double-edged sword and high risk should the tech touched ‘come back online’ before safety could be reached. Two male curios were currently trying to take advantage of the current lull by hunting, looking to replenish some much needed rations for the Tonpelli Blues. Both had red fur, though one had a duller coloration with black markings compared to the other who was more vibrant with his yellow and white markings. They were cousins who decided to join the same faction together in the current war being waged on
The new day had started as simple and pleasant as any other, and Moch had enjoyed the cool breeze the wind had brought. So far the only visitors to his cemetery had been a few birds and a squirrel. They had stopped to eat some of the seeds and berries found near or on the trees and bushes within the young esk’s boundary. None had appeared lost, but Moch kept a fond and slightly protective eye on them nonetheless as he padded through the gravestones. Speaking of the gravestones that lined his home, Moch gave them a quick glance over as he walked. Something within him settled at the lack of new damages to the grave markers. So those humans he hid from last sun-up didn’t actually do anything. Good, he had been worried. It always left him uneasy when the humans did something mean around or to the gravestones. He had been at quite a distance from the most recent group of humans, their constant movement making it hard to get close enough to clearly hear or see what they were doing. Moch
